Inventory & Rate Painting

Set your prices across a season in one drag

August 13, 20268 min read

Inventory is where your prices meet your calendar. Paint a rate group across your high season, set minimum stays on your busy weekends, and close a date for arrivals — all across a date range at once instead of a day at a time.

What is Inventory for?

Applying your prices and rules to actual dates. Rooms & Rate Plans is where you decide what your rates are; Inventory is where you say when each one applies.

Its own subtitle sums it up: "Manage rates, availability and restrictions across all room types."

This is where a season becomes real. You built a high-season rate group in Rooms & Rate Plans; here you drag it across December and January and it is live on every channel — usually within a minute, with nothing to press.

How do I apply a rate group across a range of dates?

Paint it on. The hint on screen says it directly: "Drag across cells in the grid to apply a rate group, or click a card to schedule by date range."

Two ways, both useful:

  1. Drag across the grid. Pick your rate group, then drag over the days you want. Amiqa confirms with something like "Painted 20 Dec – 5 Jan on Junior Suite."
  2. Click the rate group card and enter a From and To date, or pick whole months. Better for long ranges where dragging would mean a lot of scrolling.

The grid has two modes, switched at the top: Paint for applying rate groups across ranges, and Cell for editing one day at a time.

You can also widen the window you are looking at — 2 weeks, 1 month or 1 year — plus a year view for seeing your whole season shape at once, with Back to year view to return.

Can I make a season repeat every year?

Yes. Tick Repeat every year when you schedule a rate group and it applies to those months across all years — "applies to selected months across all years".

The apply button tells you what you are committing to: Apply every year with the number of days per year, rather than a one-off day count.

This is the setting that saves you an afternoon annually. Your December high season and your rainy-season rates do not change much year to year. Paint them once as recurring and next January is already priced.

Keep one-off events — a festival that moves, a conference — as normal ranges, since those dates shift.

What price applies on dates I have not painted?

Your baseline — the room type's default selling price. Amiqa tells you plainly on an unpainted day: "No rate group painted — selling at room baseline."

So you are never selling at nothing. Every date has a price, and painting a rate group is how you say "this period is different from normal".

To take a rate group off a range, use Clear to baseline. The dates go back to your default price, which is exactly what you want when a season ends early or an event is cancelled.

What do Live, Upcoming, Ended and Idle mean on my rate groups?

Where each rate group stands relative to today.

StatusMeaning
LiveApplied to today — this is what you are selling at right now
UpcomingScheduled for dates in the future
EndedIts dates have passed
IdleCreated but never applied to any dates

Idle is the one to look for. It means you built a rate group and never painted it, so it is doing nothing. Amiqa nudges you with "Not applied yet · click to schedule."

Each group also carries a Marker color so you can read your season shape at a glance on the grid. Colours must be unique per room type — you will be told if one is "Already used by another group on this room type" — and your choice saves automatically.

How do I set minimum stays and stop-sells?

They live on the same grid as your rates, per date and per rate plan.

FieldShortWhat it does
RateThe nightly price
AvailabilityAVLHow many rooms to offer for sale
Minimum Stay ArrivalMSAFewest nights for a guest arriving that day
Maximum StayMXSMost nights from that arrival date
Stop SellTake the date off sale entirely
Closed to ArrivalNo check-ins that day
Closed to DepartureNo checkouts that day

Everything here goes out to every connected channel, so a two-night minimum set once applies on Booking.com, Expedia and your own booking site.

Minimum Stay Arrival is the one that earns you money. A two- or three-night minimum on your busiest dates stops single nights fragmenting a holiday weekend and raises what you take from the same rooms.

Amiqa checks the obvious mistakes as you type — a rate has to be above zero, availability cannot exceed the rooms you actually have, and a minimum stay cannot be longer than the maximum.

How do I change just one day?

Switch to Cell mode and click the day. Edit Inventory opens with that date's rate, availability and restrictions, and shows the Current price so you know what you are changing from.

Cell mode is for the exception: a last-minute rate drop tomorrow because you have three rooms empty, or closing Sunday to arrivals because nobody is on the desk.

For anything spanning several days, paint or bulk edit instead — faster and less error-prone than clicking through a week.

How do I change many dates and room types at once?

Bulk Edit. It applies the same change across multiple date ranges, room types and rate plans in one go.

  • Date Ranges — add as many From / To pairs as you like with Add Range, so all your summer weekends go in together
  • Select Room Typesleave empty for all
  • Select Rate Plansleave empty for all. The note is worth reading: "Rates and restrictions are per rate plan." Change a rate plan and only that plan moves.
  • Fields to Update — only the fields you tick are touched. Everything else is left as it is.
  • Overwrite existing values — decides whether to replace values already set or only fill gaps
  • Apply Changes

This is the tool for "every Friday and Saturday in July needs a two-night minimum". Add the ranges, tick Minimum Stay Arrival, set it to 2, apply.

What is Override Value for?

Changing one specific field across a date range, without touching anything else. Override Value asks for the room type, rate plan, a From and To date, a Restriction Type, the value, and whether it is Enabled.

Use it when you want a surgical change — just the stop-sell, just the maximum stay — across a period. Bulk Edit is the broader tool; this is the scalpel.

My new rate plan has no prices. What is Seed Inventory?

It fills a new rate plan with starting values so it has something to sell — "Create initial inventory for [rate plan]."

A rate plan you just created has no daily prices attached yet. Seeding generates them across a period so the plan is immediately sellable, and you can then paint and refine.

There is an Overwrite existing inventory option. Leave it off unless you genuinely want to wipe prices you have already set — it will tell you how many entries were created and how many updated.

Why does a date show Sold out?

Every room of that type is taken for that night — through bookings, blocks, or an availability limit you set.

Worth a look when it surprises you. If a date reads sold out and you believe you have rooms, check whether availability was capped below your true room count, or whether a room is blocked or in maintenance.

A genuine sell-out is a pricing signal. If you are selling out repeatedly on the same dates, you are priced too low for that demand — and the Pricing section of your Dashboard will already be telling you so.

What are the Refundable and Breakfast labels on the grid?

The four ways the same room sells, abbreviated to fit: Refund. and Non-ref. for cancellation terms, Breakfast and No bkfst for meals.

Inside a rate group, one of these four is your primary rate and the rest are derived from it. The grid shows all four so you can check the relationships look right — your breakfast rate above room-only, your non-refundable below refundable.

If one looks wrong, the modifier in the rate group needs adjusting rather than the date.

Why can I not open Inventory?

It needs calendar editing permission, because everything on it changes what the world can book and at what price.

If Inventory is missing from your view switcher, that is why. Ask the property owner to grant it.
